Safeguarding Children

Course Overview:
This course
is designed to provide staff with the knowledge and confidence to recognise signs of abuse or neglect and to act appropriately in line with safeguarding procedures. This training supports compliance with the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).

This training is essential for professionals and volunteers who work with, or come into contact with, children and young people in any capacity.

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand what safeguarding children means and why it is important

  • Identify the different types of abuse and the potential signs and indicators

  • Know how to respond to concerns, disclosures, or allegations appropriately

  • Follow correct reporting and recording procedures

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of practitioners and safeguarding leads

  • Recognise the importance of early help, multi-agency working, and referral pathways

  • Understand the importance of promoting the rights, voice, and safety of the child
